Record donation to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund

On Saturday, June 30th, 1 900 cyclists in teams from six Nordic countries launch a joint bike ride to Paris, as part of the charity project Team Rynkeby – God Morgon. This year, ESMA sponsors Team Stockholm, who did their last long training pass the other day and now enter the final stage of the preparations.

Nordic charity project

The cycling trip, named Team Rynkeby – God Morgon after cyclists associated with the juice producer Rynkeby Foods A/S went to Paris by bike in 2002, is part of a Nordic charity project that every year raises money for children with cancer and their families. In Sweden, the money is donated directly to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund.

ESMA gold sponsor of the Stockholm team

This year the project has a record number of participants, and ESMA is a gold sponsor of one of the 48 teams heading to Paris: Team TR – GM Stockholm. The team has participants between the ages of 25 and 65 and an experienced team leader for the fourth consecutive year. On Saturday they all stand ready to start in Malmö, with about 200 kilometers cycling a day for seven days in front of them.

We have followed Team Rynkeby Godmorgon Stockholm and their fundraising closely up to this year’s trip and now look forward to continuing following their journey next week via the team’s Facebook page and Instagram account.

Raising funds for seriously ill children

During the year the team doesn’t only train to ride the just over 1200 kilometres down to Paris, but they also work, both individually and together as teams, to raise money for severely cancerous children.

The teams participate in a variety of events for the benefit of raising money. Among others, they work as functionaries at various sporting events and arrange Team Rynkeby School Run, where Swedish school students collected a total of 6.3 million kronor to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund this year.

The participants finance the trip, and all material they need, on their own – which means that all of the money they raise is donated directly to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund. Last year, the Swedish teams raised a total of 26 million kronor!
